Video Questions

1. Yes, as mentioned both pictures shown to the baby were similar. Considering how the baby was only 6 months old there is no way to tell what he/she was thinking. So the conclusion that the baby looked at the "prettier" face for longer because it thought it was more beautiful is flawed. You could easily fool the baby by showing pictures of high profile celebrities known for beauty, and compare them with "ugly" people whom have unique characteristics that would catch your eye for being strange. The baby could possibly be confused and look at the "uglier" picture longer, proving the flaw.
2. This video is missing variety in beauty, it tried to add diversity but failed. It also lacked many naturally pretty people, most wear an excessive amount of makeup, or had plastic surgery. Not only does this lead to a false sense of beauty, but provides a bad example for easily influenced people. It also lacks pretty people with assymetrical faces, and other faults.
3. Feautures that might break the typical beauty rules are large noses, such as penelope cruz, who has an extremely large nose but is still considered beautiful. "Supermodel" Tyra Banks is also widely considered beautiful, and notoriously known for having a forehead fit for advertisements. Very few people are 100% perfect. Having a big nose, or gigantic forehead does not always constitute being ugly.
4. This video makes beauty very materialistic. However it didnt really influence my opinion on it. A lot of people wouldnt look so bad if they just took care of themselves. I dont agree with many of the same people the video considers pretty. The statement that there is a perfect face that all beauty should be like is just short of ignorant. Beauty is slightly opininated.
5. Its elastic, so it can get stretched out. However like a balloon after it gets stretched so far it loses some of its elastic properties. It gets to the point of over extended stretching and will only return so far, never going back to the initial starting point.
6. Cosmetic surgery has a lot of risks, for starters you are taking a risk by simply allowing the surgeon to perform surgery on you. They could easily have a false degree, or simply a degree from a below standard program. These surgeons could easily scar you for life, hurting the cause more than the initial problem. As of now i dont think i would ever have cosmetic surgery unless i needed it. Only sever needs, i wouldnt get plastic surgery to try to impress someone or something like that, which seems to be the cause of the surgerys in the video.
7. Makeup can make anyone appear prettier if done the right way, however makeup can also make people uglier. When people always wear makeup and you constantly see them with makeup you simply assume they are god awful looking underneath. Makeup is fake, i dont dissaprove of wearing it, but when it comes to using makeup to trick people into believing that is actually how you look then it starts to annoy me. I'd prefer a person to just take good care of themselves.
8. There are cultural differences about cosmetic surgery, however it does not matter much to me. People with the money to get cosmetic surgery, and the expense not bother them slightly, are probably more likely to get it than people withought a lot of money. However i dont think this affects how people think about it. I think that people in general think the same, money just makes a different on if you wish to alter your look. However i think cosmetic surgery is very fake way of false advertising yourself.
